Overcomer Obstacle Challenge Fundraiser, April 22, 2017

This is the second year that CEASE Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Inc. has partnered with Morristown Parks and Rec, and Fortress Kickboxing to present the Overcomer Obstacle Challenge fundraiser and awareness event.  Held during April, Sexual Assault Awareness month, the Overcomer  is a  3+ mile endurance race with 28 obstacles that will test the body, mind and spirit of participants. Overcomers will run, climb, jump, crawl, and muscle their way through to conquer the obstacles along the way; similar to the journey that survivors of intimate partner violence take to recover and reclaim their lives.

April 26 – Denim Day
April 28 – 2nd Annual Shatter the Silence Event 

This event will be held at the Blue Slip Winery. There will be food trucks, drinks, local vendors, live music, and several speakers including two survivors. The Clothesline Project will be displayed at this event. Follow Sexual Assault Center of East Tennessee on Facebook for more info.

Bar Owners/Staff Roundtable and Bystander Intervention Training

April 4, 2017 from 2-3pm @ Bar Louie 314 11th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203

 Local bars and restaurants should be comfortable, fun and safe. Customers should have a “top shelf” experience in an atmosphere of safety with knowledgeable and trained staff which equals safe, happy and satisfied customers. Bystander Intervention is an effective prevention strategy that staff can use to decrease sexual assault.

Community Awareness For Human Trafficking

Community event to raise awareness and understanding of sex trafficking. We will have a guest speaker from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation that will share about this issue.

Sign the Pledge! We will be promoting sign the pledge to help offer support to change the rape culture mentality and victim blaming. We want to focus on the "I See I Do" campaign and speaking up and becoming an active bystander.

Student Lecture and Discussion

April 18th, Columbia State Community College
There will be a student survivor sharing her story and help bring awareness about sexual assault. Center of Hope Advocates will also be on site to speak about the issues surrounding sexual assault, support/resources we can offer, and the ways everyone can be involved to speak up and do something.

National Denim Day

April 26th, Columbia State Community College
National Denim to spread awareness and support survivors of sexual assault and sex-trafficking 


Community Health of East Tennessee Family Services Center, Jacksboro

Jacksboro town elephant will be painted teal for SA Awareness!
Law Enforcement agencies will display teal ribbons on the antennas of each police car.
FSC's child advocate will be presenting “Safe Dates” curriculum in the local junior highs and high schools.
